Every Titan fan remembers how Torry Holt embarrassed our secondary in the big game back in '99 and now we have a chance to get the veteran receiver. We have the savvy Pro-Bowl quarterback who won't make mistakes and will make plays when we need it, solid receivers who do what they're asked of, one of the best running back tandems in the league, the best pair of tight ends we've had since Frank Wycheck and Erron Kinney and most importantly; the best offensive line in the game. I'm sure Torry is tired of having missed the playoffs for the past half decade with the sorry Rams and now he can be back with a winner. He'd compliment our style about as much as we'd compliment his unselfish, and hard working work ethic and we're just missing another big play threat to go along with Chris Johnson (who has shown he's not always going to be able to go).

The first year I ever watched a Super Bowl was after the 1996 season, when the Green Bay Packers (whom I, ironically, as a Vikings fan, was rooting for) beat the New England Patriots thanks in large part to a kickoff return by Desmond Howard for a touchdown to open the second half (if my memory serves me right).

Baltimore Ravens at Tennessee Titans: Despite being the #1 seed in the AFC and cruising through the regular season, I think the Titans will fall to the Ravens on Saturday. The Ravens always have that ability to completely shut down an opponent's rushing game, and if they happens to the Titans they are toast. Prediction: Ravens 24, Titans 19

For those of you who may not know, this year's Tennessee Titans football team is currently 11-1 and pretty much blowing away the competition in the entire AFC right now. I find this very interesting, as it reminds me of the 1998 Vikings, who went 15-1 and had a resurgence much like the Titans right now. There are three areas in which I see similarities...

Drum roll please…
The Tennessee Titans at a whopping 9-0 currently! This is surprising, but not the real surprise! The real surprise is Quarterback Kerry Collins! Leading an undefeated, AFC leading Titans squad! Unbelievable! Collins couldn’t get out of his own way in New York or Oakland, and now he is undefeated! Herein lays the weirdness.

NFC East
Week 6
Hello East Fans,
Well after a week of Hiatus to curse the football gods for my team’s embarrassing losses. I felt a preview of the Best division in Football was the only way to quench the thirst. Every team in the division except for Washington is on the road, let’s start with the leaders of the pack.

The Crying Game
The Terrell Owens story
Hello NFL fans,
Well here we are, week four of the third year with his last team. This will be his last team, I truly believe that. If I were an owner I would rather get a letter full of anthrax and then imprisoned IN Cuba to spend the rest of my days. The continuous onslaught of reporters and fans condemning my name and wanting my head on a stick would be too much for me to bare.

If we're looking for people to laud now that Tennessee is 2-0 for the first time since 1999, there are the usual suspects:
The defense, stellar for a second consecutive week, holding the Bengals to 215 total yards in less-than-ideal conditions, adding a sack, two interceptions, and three forced fumbles.

I just wanted to let you know that I may be unable to post for a few days. I live south of Houston, near Galveston, Texas. As hurricane Ike approaches there may be power outages and loss of internet access. If that is the case, I will be unable to write my column. Remember though, there are things much more important than sports. If you need Ike information, you can go to:

Finnegan for Quarterback?
Once an un-heralded selection out of Samford University (the first drafted from Samford in 37 years), Cortland Finnegan had a productive off-season. His contract was extended by Titans management, netting him an additional $6 million in guaranteed money, and he was lauded by ESPN (Paul Kuharsky) as one of four AFC players to keep an eye on.

Chris Johnson flashed some of his speed and ability in the preseason, but the first true test came this past Sunday against the Jacksonville Jaguars. By the time the final whistle blew, he'd taken the first steps towards proving Titans' general manager Mike Reinfeldt's foresight for selecting him in the first round, ending the game with 127 yards on eighteen touches and the season's first offensive touchdown.

Tomorrow is the much anticipated season opener for our boys in blue! The game sets up as a potentially classic smash-mouth struggle between AFC South rivals. The Jags bruising one-two punch of MJD and Fred Taylor against the Titans staunch defensive front. The Titans new (and unproven) one-two punch of masher Lendale White and speedster Chris Johnson against the Jags always strong D-line. There is also, of course the rivalry that has developed between these two teams that has heated over the years that always makes this a spicy matchup. One that any true football fan should enjoy watching.
