The wait is over. The field is set, all that remains is for this year's Cinderella to step forward. Every year there are a certain amount of upsets, we all know that. Which ones can take it past the simple upset and sneak into a possible Elite Eight or Final Four? There is also some good news for the number ones too. Only two times since the field expanded(1980, 2006) have we seen a final four without a single number one seed.

In eleven of the past twelve years at least one team seeded 7th or worse has reached the elite eight. Only four times since 1982 have all four number 2 seeds reached the sweet sixteen. So,needless to say, there will be some highly ranked teams to fall the first weekend. Connecticut, Kansas, Oklahoma, PITT, and Wake Forest should already brace themselves as they all lost in the first round of their conference tourneys, and there has never been a national champion that has lost in it's respective conference tourney's first round.

Mark McGwire, Sammy Sosa, Barry Bonds, and now Alex Rodriguez: all helped to bring baseball back from the bad memories of the mid 90's strike, and ushered in a new love for America's favorite past time. Now, all their efforts are revealed for what they were: an easy and cheap way to immortality through their use of performance enhancing drugs. A-Rod was carrying the banner for a while, and recently it was revealed that maybe our last true hero of our game had succumbed to the easy way to success. Were it not for several injury plagued seasons, Ken Griffey Jr. would have been our true knight on shining armor. As he still trudges along without the power and charisma he once had, who can baseball fans turn to now?

Which conference will get the most teams in, and which ones will be on the outside looking in in 2009? It looks to be a good year for the mid-major conferences and their tournament hopes this year. Only two power conferences are flexing their muscle this year, while the others are stumbling and beating each other up in conference. The ACC and Big East are looking strong, while down years in the SEC, Big 12, and PAC 10 are creating a jumble of mediocre looking teams with no true leaders.

The ACC and Big East will probably get 8 teams a piece into the tournament. Usual juggernauts like the SEC and Big 12 will likely only get 4 in each. With the top SEC schools all hovering around 20 wins and 10 losses, it will be difficult to seperate the mud from the dirt as to who is truly deserving to dance from the south this year. The Big 12 has a couple championship capable teams, but outside Oklahoma(26-3, 12-2) and Kansas(24-5, 13-1), they won't pose much of a threat. The Big 10 will probably get 6 teams in, but whose scared of anybody from there other than Michigan State(23-5, 13-3)? The PAC 10 has four high profile teams at the top then alot of white noise if you look past Arizona(18-11, 8-8), who could sneak in as a fifth team from the PAC 10.

Who should be the preseason number one for the upcoming NCAA football campaign, you ask? Look no further than the defending champs themselves. The Florida Gators are stacked again on both sides of the ball, and Urban Meyer seems to just now be hitting his coaching stride. So it may very well be a long couple of years for, not only the SEC but, the entire field of football powerhouses.

The Gator offense last year outscored their opponents 611 to 181, almost 500 points! Over 50% of that offense is returning in one Tim Tebow. The only key play-maker not returning would be Percy Harvin. Considering all of his injuries, he truly can't be considered an every down threat anyway. Of Florida's 75 offensive TD's last year, Tebow accounted for 42 of them, both passing and rushing. Throw in a couple of other talented backs returning in Rainey and Demps, along with Meyer's excellent offensive philosophy, and the Gators should hardly miss a beat in 2009.

The Vince Young project with the Tennessee Titans has come to a crossroads, now the only thing to do is decide whether the Titans can still get something positive out of their former number 3 overall pick.

The 2008 season saw the very old, yet very capable Kerry Collins step in and lead the Titans to a division title and first round bye. So, the question remains, what can they do with Vince now? They can't trade him because he's not worth much to anybody. He obviously is not going to be the Titans future at quarterback, so now the team has to get back to reality and use him in a way that can benefit the team and maybe give him a respectful chance at a legitimate career.
