Is it time to consider Vince Young a loss and move on, or can the Titans still get some production from the maligned athelete?

The Vince Young project with the Tennessee Titans has come to a crossroads, now the only thing to do is decide whether the Titans can still get something positive out of their former number 3 overall pick.

The 2008 season saw the very old, yet very capable Kerry Collins step in and lead the Titans to a division title and first round bye. So, the question remains, what can they do with Vince now? They can't trade him because he's not worth much to anybody. He obviously is not going to be the Titans future at quarterback, so now the team has to get back to reality and use him in a way that can benefit the team and maybe give him a respectful chance at a legitimate career.

2009 aside, in which Vince had no effect on any team, much less the Titans, Vince has had some production for the Titans, but not at all related to passing the ball effectively. The passing stats are putrid. Both of his 2006 and 2007 seasons put together would make one terrible season for Brett Favre. In the 06 and 07 seasons combined Vince had a combined 4,745 yards passing, 21 tds, 30 ints, 20 fumbles(6 lost), sacked 50 times, and held a QB rating average of 68.9. No, his production has come at running with the ball and open field play making. In the same seasons his rushing stats are pretty respectable. He had 947 yards rushing on 176 attempts with 10 tds. That's a 5.4 yards per rush average. Not too bad in today's NFL.

If the Titans are stuck with their once heralded "future", and they are, then it is time to course correct the playbook somewhat and get some more offense in Nashville. The wildcat looks to be perfect to gain some of those tough yards we could have used in our playoff game. Line him up opposite Trouppe as an opposing TE and get some more play-makers out their.

We have a long time until the new season starts, and I'm sure our excellent coaching staff will figure this no brain-er out. If the Arizona Cardinals can bench their future and make a run to the Super Bowl with an over the hill has been, then the Titans, with a much superior coaching staff, can get us back to the promised land sooner, hopefully, rather than later.
